Founder, Kevin Knight, has focused on owning his own business for most of his life. Part of his motivation came from watching his father work at a local shipyard for 12 hours a day to support his family of fourteen. Knight made a decision early in life that while owning his own business may not prevent him from facing hard times, it would give him the best opportunity to control the outcome. 

While serving his country in the U.S. Army, Kevin sustained an injury that resulted in his inability to further serve.

“This was a devastating time, as I knew that coming home would put me back in the same negative surroundings that I grew up in,” said Knight. “Instead of returning and hanging out with negative friends, I decided to put myself through college.” Knight was not only the first member of his family to graduate from college; but he did so with honors. “My parents today still see this as one of the proudest moments of their lives,” said Knight.

KMC has partnered with Cressy Commercial Real Estate out of South Bend, Indiana who serves as the real estate advisor to the KMC-led partnership. Cressy Commercial Real Estate has a 75-year history in the industry with a continuum of services that encompasses site selection, contracting, brokerage, property management, maintenance inclusive of licensed plumbing and HVAC teams that also run parallel to their construction company.

KMC has also partnered with the Mno-Bmadsen family of companies. Mno-Bmadsen is the investment arm of the Pokagon Band of the Potawatomi Indians based out of Southwest Michigan. They own and operate many companies inclusive of several that are federally designated as super 8(a) minority contractors and have vast experience operating within the federal contracting space.  Bodwé is the Professional Services Group of Mno-Bmadsen and is comprised of Seven Generations Architecture + Engineering, WBK Engineering, The Steelhead Engineering Company, and Blue Star Integrative Studio.
